Lloyd of Wales Kilt on Order!

I've been ready to order a new kilt for awhile. I'm trying to hold down now that I'm at 10. One for my birthday in July and one for Christmas.

Finally decided on the Lloyd of Wales since I have a connetion to that name long ago in North Carolina. (Mary Loyd married Joshua Hayes in about 1740.)

I ordered it from Celtic Croft. Should be here in 8 to 12 weeks. The tartan is a grey and green predominat colors so it will be somewhat subdued.
This is my first order from Celtic Croft. Hope they live up to the good reputation they seem to have on X marks.

    Anyone else have that tartan?

    Tom

Due to a family connection, the Welsh Gwyn/Wyn has been on my wish list sometime. I really like that Loyd tartan though. It'll be a beauty. can't wait to see it.

Look forward to seeing the photos. By the way does anyone know if Welshmen can wear the Wallace tartan? His people were Welsh originally.

    Hi Tom,
I ordered my Lloyd from the Welsh tartan centre about two weeks ago. I can't wait for it to be delivered (my mothers family are Lloyd-Davies). As a newbie to tartans I ordered mine via a local company here in the midlands of England. There was some confusion over the exact Lloyd tartan as I've since found out there are at least three. The other being scottish I think.
But I've settled in the grey/green Lloyd partly because it is muted and I think it will suit for both formal and casual.

I'll post some pics when it arrives.

An excellent way to honour an ancestor. Looking forward to seeing your pics once you have your new kilt.

Well, good! We will have to compare when they arrive.

I ordered from a store in the USA, even though I'm living in Germany right now. The price works out the same, and the Cilt (Kilt) is supposed to be made in the UK, but it might make it a little easier to get to me considering the VAT and exchange rate. We shall see. They quoted 8 to 12 weeks delivery.

Also, welcome to the Forum, I hope you will enjoy it here.

    Tom

There is no reason why a Welshman should not wear loads of Scottish tartans Phil!

But yes, he did have Welsh connections.

And besides, any Welshman interested in wearing the cilt is probably eligible for Clan Wallace Society "Scots of any clan and all others who wish they were Scots"
