Rather than purporting some kind of cerebral superiority while racing around the universe, Kirk was more frequently on another planet. He was solving problems, sometimes by guile, sometimes with force and sometimes with good ol' inginuity. Lower technology was the form and function of the mission. Seeking out the unknowns and learning. He fought bare fisted against a monster far larger than twice his size and prevailed. He gambled poker style against a being that had a childlike appearance and won. Kirk the great Captain of the United Star Ship Enterprise. NCC1701.
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

And don't forget that Kirk is the undisputed master of the game of Fizzbin. (episode reference "A Piece of the Action)

So, there seem to be a few Kirk fans and one SERIOUS Klingon fan. Kallen may take on all comers.

Now I am really just a fan of Star Wars and have a passing knowledge on a few others, mostly Star Trek and Firefly. So, this thread is interesting in all the other universes and timelines that have been brought into the discussion.

As I don't know much on anything BUT Star Wars, I'll just stick to that one.
The premise of Lucas' movie is that motivated, sell-aware, and creative individualists can and will triumph over the monolithic, powerful, but faceless "empire."
So, the Empire has the great technology, but lack the initiative needed to triumph in "tricky" situations leads to defeat.
Now, a "New Republic" force combines the great technology with individual initiative, THAT is something to reckon with.

    Kallen,

    I just HAVE to ask:
Did Khan's Bird of Prey come with"Korinthian Leather?"

I think Star Wars is the poster child for why brute force and numbers doesn't always prevail. The empire had all the cool stuff, with the exception of multiple Jedi. The Sith have that stupid rule that there is only ever one Master and One Apprentice, so they never would have had the Force powers necessary to take on a large force of Jedi. Plus Yoda also proved that size doesn't matter...

I'm sure the Botany Bay did in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan. In fact it was K(w)ilted Korinthian Leather.

(I'm sure at this point the non-geeks are seriously worried about the rest of us.)
