When it came time to chose a forum name, the first thing to pop into my head was Canawler. Canawler was the name used to describe those who made their livings on the canal boats of the 19th century.
I grew up near the Deep Creek locks part of the Dismal Swamp Canal linking Norfolk, Va to Elizabeth City, NC. What's so interesting is both areas were bustling areas of commerce in the 18th century which no longer exist.
