Wow, I definitely don't like that Arizona Kilt in that picture. Nothing against the guy wearing it or anything like that, but those colors on that kilt, in the way that it's done, just reminds me of a cheerleaders skirt. Definitely something that I wouldn't buy, but good on him for wearing what he wants.

If ever you cannot pull off the Arizona kilt, it's okay - your'e just not Riverkilt. It's perfectly allright, you can still go kilted to the stadium. Only one of us gets to be Ron.

The rest of us still get to wear kilts to anywhere we want Hooray! It has been discussed to death, but I still have a hard time figuring out what makes people think they should get ignorant with a total stranger.

It is so nice to hear of strangers stepping up in defense of the kilted. Speaking of kilted at sporting events, I wonder what kind of reception one would get at an MMA event. More than one fighter including UFC former heavyweight champ Tim Sylvia has worn a kilt to ringside.

Would be interesting to hear about. If we ever get an MMA show here in Delawhere(?) i will post that myself!

Harrump!....it was a stretch, but Jeff made this up custom to represent the state flag colors. There's an Arizona flag embroidered "kilt pin" on the front and a small Arizona flag patch on the hip pocket TRYING to convey the message. PT Cruiser from Prescott was interested in buying it when I outgrew it.

It is kind of dicy to wear...the red, blue, and yellow are circus colors as well as state flag colors. Todd contributed a cavalry crossed swords patch for the "sporran" which Jeff made up in Cavalry colors....trying for an old Rough Riders look.

But hey, when we're out on the edge of kilt fashion we don't always hit a home run. If it fit I'd have no problem wearing it for the Fourth of July parade or Veteran's Day parades in my home town. When it fit I mostly wore it hiking. Its a very well made kilt what with Jeff sewing it up. He was proud of it too and used the canyon edge photos on his business cards.

LOL> I didn't even see the fact that they were the Arizona State Flag colors. that does make it a bit more acceptable. I'm truly sorry if I offended, but I saw it and it just threw me off a bit. I thought it was either someone trying to show off Arizona Cardinal colors (since that is the name of this thread), or maybe the first attempt at a real arizona tartan, like the one Retro Red wears. Again, sorry i meant no disrespect, I just understood the picture wrong.

I was planning to wear my kilt to the Niners game in San Francisco when my brother brought up the swirling winds that are everpresent at Candlestick. I think that unless I want to make friends with the San Francisco P.D. I may have to leave the kilt at home. I just got back from 4 days in Las Vegas. I was really thankful for the lighter weight kilts that I took...

Today an old friend had one of his boys playing a soccer match in Kent Island Md. The last time his kid played there he heard his bi-racial heritage badly defamed in a most common and rude fashion. His team mates, mostly hispanic, were taunted to produce green cards.

Since the match was 30 miles from my work, and I hadn't seen my old boss in years, I made the trip. As much to see an old mate as for moral support. He had a tight schedule and was a coach so I knew we wouldn't have much of a visit.

I of course wore my kilt, SWK weathered Mackenzie. While my old boss was on the other side of the field from the spectators (seems to be a rule at sporting events for kids now) I did look forward to chatting with his disproportionately hot wife, whom I had also not seen for years.

Everyone, and I mean everyone I encountered was very positive about the kilt. One lady from the home team with a U.K accent (sorry couldn't tell you which part, possibly manx..) asked me about the tartan. Fortunately I could talk some about it and my family's relationship to it. (James M, I told you the tartan police would eventually interrogate me!)

The ex-pat soccer mom opined that it was a very beautiful tartan and could not believe I wore it to work in. I explained that it was a "value kilt" from SWK and acrylic.

She was impressed. We discussed how the trend of daily kilting seemed to be somewhat of an American thing. Her take was that we had more courage in that department. I told her I thought we just spent more time eating popcorn and watching "Braveheart". She congratulated me when "my team" won.

My friend can certainly hold his own, but he had to stay on the other side of the field. I think he was glad having me there to stand next to his wife. (SO WAS I SHE IS SMOKING HOT and a lovely conversationalist)

It was near perfect weather for a match, our lads put on a clinic winning four - one. The ethnic slurs were happily absent, and the kilt was well received. A good kilted day at a sporting event. Seriously, for the ages involved it was a great match and very entertaining to watch. (some of those young teens had been playing since they could walk)

So my hypothesis of the kilt being better received at men's sporting events as opposed to the NFL setting seems to hold true. _ducks_for_cover_ ****
