Pin too "dressy"?
I picked up this grouse-claw kilt pin over the summer, and planned on wearing for the first time tonight, to kilt night. Then I got to thinking: with the mounted stone and all, is it considered more of a "dress" item? I'll be going casual tonight, of course....

I'd say, if you leave the Prince Charlie at home, you'll be fine. Hey, I really LIKE that pin!

That's quite a nice pin! I feel it could be worn casual or dress.. depending on the other accessories of course.

I examined a pin exactly like that at an antiques fair today but decided against purchasing it.

I think you should be fine with that one.
Of course, to be really casual, you might try a rubber-chicken claw.

Your pin is perfectly suitable for wear on any occasion, casual or formal. Personally, I would not wear a real claw - instead, I have three of these metal versions, each with different colour stones which I colour co-ordinate with the kilt:

Sorry I missed you and your new kilt pin, Brian. The wife is not feeling well. I'll see you next month.
