Kilted beach towel

Why are you so down on this? It's obviously not meant to be worn as a kilt. I kinda like it, and think it is a brilliant idea.

I'm not defending it at all, just a few questions. Why is this not a kilt? Because someone says it isn't? Because of the material it's made of? Because it isn't made to the wearer's measurements?

I recently purchased a SWK Standard Kilt and found it to be a garment, it definitely was not a kilt. So, if the SWK Standard Kilt can be called a kilt, why can't the garment you linked be called a kilt? Where do we stop with the word "kilt"?

I'm not trying to start a war or anything, just curious.

Well, I wouldn't wear one out as a kilt. I would love to have one for going to the beach and the pool. I know some people swim in their kilts but I haven't gotten into that yet.

I say it isn't a kilt because it isn't pleated. The pleats are screened on. If it was made out of terry clothe (what most towels are made of) and pleated I would think about wearing to the beach or pool.

Good reply. One of the reasons I say it isn't a kilt is because it isn't made of tartan. What is the definition of jeans? Must any garment made of denim be called jeans? Must "jeans" always be made of denim? If we define jeans by the material from which it's made.. why do we not extend the same courtesy to the kilt?

I don't think it was ever meant to be called a kilt. It's a towel, that looks like a kilt, nothing more. And I think it's hilarious and have been tempted to buy one for myself.

I need help, it's been documented extensively. I still like the towel. Great novelty item. If you are going to own any goofy silly things this is the one for a kiltie.

Great gift idea for the kilted man. Will have to get one, that's what I say.

Because it's a towel.......

It's a gimmick to use at the beach or the pool. Anyone seriously thinking of wearing one out and about should ask themselves why they don't just wear the towel they wrapped themselves in after a shower out to the store, the pub, or work.

I still think these are great for swimming, but let's be real, it's a gag. It would be like wearing a see-ya-jimmy hat in place of a balmoral

Curse you Colin. These two items was my last ditch effort to get kilt checked. The rubber chicken sporran just doesn't have the desired effect.
