I love your photos. I only got as far as the visitors center. However, I don't think that is Mt Rainier in the background. I think that might be Mt Hood in Oregon.

Great shots! You really are Retro Red! You look like a younger version of a professor I had, by the name of Séamas Ó Dochartaigh! Consider it a compliment as he was very cool. You wouldn't by any chance be related to Ó Dochartaigh/(O')Doherty clan?

I don't think that is Mt Rainier in the background. I think that might be Mt Hood in Oregon.

Seeing as this was my first visit to Washington, I can't say that I'm certain that that is Mt Rainier. What I do know is we exited I-5 & approached Mount St Helens from its western side & we were hiking on the blast side which was the northern face of the mountain, so whatever mountain that is is a bit to the north & east of Mount St Helens, which is why I was thinking it's Mt Rainier.

Can any local folks help us out here?

In the panoramic shot, it appears that you are facing south towards the blast zone. And that seems to be the same mountain in your other shots. And Mt. Hood is the only one south of St. Helens. Mt. Adams is due east of St. Helens. Forgive me if I sound a little persnickity. It's not my intention. My wife grew up in the Yakima Valley. On clear days she could see Rainier, St. Helens, and Adams. She remembers quite well the day of the eruption. They all thought it was the end of the world. Day turned to night and ash clogging the streets. I'll have to show her your photos. She got a kick out of the Rainier ones.

While it could be the same glaciers, it's probably too squat for what's in Retro's shots - those look more pointed, like Rainier.

Great Pics of my home state! I haven't been up to Mt. St. Helens since college and it gives some good memories. I'm not sure of the orientation of the peak in question but it looks much more like Mt. Adams than Mt. Rainier to me. Either way, very stunning! Thanks for sharing.
