Indeed. A whole 28 years in the Grand Canyon state (which accounts for better than three-quarters of my life). Kilts are a bit of a rarity in Tucson - I'm rather looking forward to being that rarity.

Thank you! And, yes, I've learned just a wealth of information from my 24 hours of lurking through the different forums.

I think you made a great choice for your first kilt. I love those SWKs for the money. Happy new kilt!

I felt like I had to update everyone on the status of my kilting. Mr. MacDougall was kind enough to suffer talking me through it on the speaker phone, and under his guidance, I donned my first kilt.

And it was awesome. Even though I'd goofed and ordered a size too big, it looked and felt fantastic. While this one is going back to swap out for one size smaller, I ordered my second on the spot (this one in the Black Stewart - very sharp). Kudos to SWK's otherworldly shipping, and I can't wait for my new one!

And yes, I feel a hint of the jones...

My update and a good story:

The correct size for my Black Watch and new Black Stewart arrived today! SWK are my heroes! I made my way to the seamstress to have them hemmed (for I'm not a tall gent). I kilted myself in the dressing room for only the second time and stepped out...

...and during my absence an attractive woman from the tanning salon next door had come in to pick up a pair of skirts. She turned, looked at my slightly-too-long kilt and smiled, "That's a great kilt!" she exclaimed.

And in my somewhat stunned brilliance replied, "Um...yeah! Thanks!" We traded a few more pleasantries before she left, but I wonder if Mr. MacDougall's 'magic of the kilt' is more fact than fantasy.

    Going kilted Friday night! Woohoo!
