Kilted Momday
No, that's not a typo in the title. ![Cool](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif)
A couple of years ago, my parents retired, sold their house, and took up a full-time nomadic existence. For large portions of that time, they've been rather far away. This week, however, they're parked in an RV spot about a forty-five minute drive from me, and today, as I was coming out of class, my mom called to let me know that she was just turning into campus.
So I went and spent the afternoon with her, wearing my Black Stewart Stillwater standard. Now, I've been pretty regularly kilted for several months, now, and have been out and about in town several times during that time. Today, however, I got attention coming out of the woodwork! People were coming up to me, asking me questions about my ancestry, where I'd got the kilt, all kinds of things. My mom postulated that it was because I was with her -- that a man in a kilt by himself may seem a little intimidating, but a man in a kilt with his mother is far less so.
Whatever it was, every time I turned around, someone was talking to me. I gave a couple of pointers to X-Marks, so we'll see if any new Flagstaff members turn up.

How very cool! It must be a treat to have them close for awhile. Even though my parents live in the same city as I, we only see each other every few months. It's always nice to spend time with them.
(And perhaps it's a sign of my twisted mind...but I really chuckled at your "strangers with candy" tag. )

Well, we were walking around in the local grocery store, and I'd gone ahead of her to look for something, and turned around, and she said, "Well, if you're going to do the kilt thing, you should at least make it look good, and you do."

That is very cool, I had a night like that not too long ago with my mother we went to see Scotland the Brave at Roy Thompson Hall, it was a very special night for both of us, and yes looking back at the night I did get quite a bit of attention.
