Couture Kilt

So since I am new to kilts, I have been doing lots of searching on the internet for information. I just came across what might be one of the most expensive kilts out there, at least that I have found thus far. Now I won't provide the link since I am new and it might also conflict with the forum rules. However a google should turn up positive results, especially if using a few key words from this phrase lifted from the web site in question. "Sustainable Couture Kilt in Ardanalish organic or ethical tweed" I did not find any reference to it here when doing a forum search. Does anybody own one of these extravagant items? Is any kilt worth the price? Would you save your hard earned money for one, or just put it on the "if I win the lottery list?" <whistle:

I don't have one, but frankly, the website doesn't impress me. If I were going with a Scottish kilt maker, I'd start by looking at the one who advertises here, or at the firm whose advert is at the top of every page on the forum. Oh, looking more closely at it, they're reselling the TFCK line from Geoffrey (Tailor). Might as well go directly to the source.

I still may have to add a tweed kilt to my collection one of these days. As Mr. MacDougall said though, I will look to our sponsors first. I know that both USA kilts and Kiltstore offer tweed kilts.

I met the person behind this site, an American woman who is committed to helping traditional woolmakers receive a "fair market" return on their work. She oversees and coordinates the whole process of manufacture, from sheep owner to weaver and then the mill to ensure a quality project.

Yes, this will be on my "when I win the lottery" list, but I do admire and support her objectives in this process. I would also add that she is a sponsor of the major kilt event here in NYC, the Scottish Village, which lasts a week.

I'm all for "fair trade", "sustainability", and "organic", and am used to paying a little more for such support, but I found myself questioning the price on these all the same. Also, are not wool kilts organic and sustainable? Ok maybe antibiodics would cancel an organic classification.
