[QUOTE=Hamner;425764]My update and a good story:

but I wonder if Mr. MacDougall's 'magic of the kilt' is more fact than fantasy.

    QUOTE]

"Kilt magic" is a fact! I have had two recent encounters...and for a happily married, old, fat guy it is heartening and somewhat scary!

    Be prepared!

As another fat, old man, I can testify to women's responses. At a religious conference which I spent kilted, I was told by one woman that an elderly lady commented to her that I had the legs for wearing a kilt.

Hamner, now I'm curious to know if you're going to wear your maternal tartan...and how!

Welcome aboard. I have to say that most of the time it's great to be the "Man in the Kilt". You get all of the attention that way (don't tell your wife though).

It's also fun to be part of a group of guys in kilts.

As much as I love my dear old Mom and despite my great fondness for her family, there's just no way I'll put myself in a pink and purple kilt. My little girl, on the other hand, has already requested one.

There's an interesting development to that, actually. I used TartanFerret to look up her family name and came up with an entirely different tartan that isn't bad at all. I'll probably hold off on a big money kilt for some time (and I imagine this custom kilt would cost a good bit), but that might be my first.

Next on the list is the American Heritage kilt, I think. Or possibly the USAF - I'm not certain.
