The President of our local St. Andrew's Society is originally from Brazil. (Her parents are missionaries and are of Scottish heritage).

There are a couple of St. Andrew's Societies in Brazil:

There was also a pipe band at one time. The Brazilian Marines also have a pipe band, but they do not wear Highland "rig", save a white glengarry-type hat.

    Cheers,

    Todd

I have been there. Wore the kilt once and it was very well received. They know that the kilt is Scottish so it should go over well. There are the latin male testosterone overtones to the society that might have a few look at you askew, but if your experience is anything like mine was you will find the ladies are quite curious. Of course I was almost 20 years younger and in much better shape than I am now. So as the saying goes, Your Mileage May Vary

I know quite a few Brasilians living in Boston. The Brasilian culture has always been inclusive in terms of race and culture, but it's also a very macho culture. The guys I know have no problem at all that I wear the kilt, but they also think it's pretty funny. So, no problems.
