To wear a white kilt I'd have to have a team of maybe twenty people come in clear everything out of the way, hide my fountain pens, barricade the kitchen and the garden, probably cover most of the furniture in dust sheets, and then I could probably put it on and it might be maybe ten minutes before I splotch it. Could be less.
I'm even having doubts about the mid grey pinstripe I am sewing at the moment. It looks rather pale for my lifestyle. More office worker.

Thanks for all the comments-very fun to see how many people can respond in two days. I'm not so worried about getting it dirty-I wear white all the time. I thought I'd have to look into converting another jacket-and it looks like that's the way to go. If I ever end up getting one, I'll be sure to post loads of photos.
