Finely turned out! I wonder why the TSA are interested in utilikilts?
I don't know why, but it seems that they are seeing them often enough that they recognize a Utilikilt when they see one.
I have been wanded a couple of times when the snaps set off the metal detectors, so maybe the TSA has special procedures for wanding Utilikilt wearers (one I would recommend is not asking us to remove our belts).

One of our number, Turpin, is kilted 100% and flys quite a bit on business. Next time I see him I'll ask what steps he takes to make the whole thing go as event free as possible.
Now that I am a full time kilter, the only concession that I have made is to remove all metal possible before the gate, and to pack all weapons (sgian dubh) in the checked bagage.
Oh and I don't fly in wool, PV only - PV is much more forgiving of being scrunched in small airline seats. A USA Casual is perfect for flying! No buckles, etc.
