Richmond Highland Games

So, who is planning to be at the Richmond Highland Games the 27th & 28th this month? Jerry told me last weekend at the Williamsburg Scottish Festival he and his wife was planning on it. Today, Paul & Dottie said they were going. I’m planning to be there Saturday. Who else?

The wife and I will be there for both days. Since our home is only 30 or so miles away, we'll be staying at home and driving to RIR complex instead of staying in a motel. If you are staying overnight, there are areas of Richmond you might wish to avoid. I'm not a Richmond native, but my wife lived there and knows some of the areas to avoid, so if you need any info I'll ask her and PM you.

So guys, from your past experiences how do the Richmond Games compare to the other ones in VA; Williamsburg, Virginia(ex-Alexandria), etc.?

Before this year, I only attended two Highland Games; in 2005 VA (Alexandria) and in North Carolina, Grandfather's Mountain, which I attended this year, too. I think I've been biased as I compare them to what I experienced at Grandfather which is awesome.

I understand that Stone Mountain (GA) is the largest of all the Scottish Games/Festivals.

The games at Richmond are much bigger than Williamsburg. For the second straight year the Scottish heavy athletics North American championship will be held on Saturday in Richmond. This will involve the top Scottish athletes from the US and Canada as well as some here by invitation from Europe. Sunday they will have some of the top amateurs competing.
