The two major water storage lakes north of Atlanta are around 18 feet below their normal levels. The pictures of the drying lakes they show on the Weather Channel are shots of these lakes, they look about the same as Jerry's pictures. We are on a total outdoor watering ban. This is the worst drought we have experienced in our area in 80 years.

And they predict that the lakes' water levels will drop a foot every week for several weeks at least.

I heard last night, that Lake Chesdin (the lake in the pics) is down to about a 180 day supply of water. This morning, the water from my well looked more like milk than water. It has contained some silt for several months now, but I've never seen it this cloudy. Fortunately, I have another well on my properts and the water from that one is clear. I just have to bring it in in gallon jugs for cooking and drinking.

I heard on the radio this morning that the "experts" say we only have a 90 day supply of water left in Lake Lanier. These lakes supply Metro Atlanta, parts of Alabama and Florida. I don't know what the Corps of Engineers contingency plan involves, I suppose they have one.

We need rain and plenty of it here.
