    Kilts in Costumes

So I have a Halloween party coming up in a few weeks, and I want to incorporate a kilt into my costume. I did the braveheart thing last year, so even though I love warpaint, I'd rather not do anything like that this year.

I have a solid black sportkilt, and stillwater thrifty in blackwatch. I'm trying to think of something that isn't just "a Scottish guy" or "that Scottish guy in that movie" but where the kilt still fits. In other words, as much as I like the idea of the kilted ninja (especially since it would give me an excuse to wear my beloved ninja climbing claws) I'd rather not spend the whole night explaining why I'm in a kilt and what that has to do with ninjas. A roman centurion on the other hand would work well with a kilt, I'm just too lazy/cheap to make/buy anything that would pass for roman armor.

So, do you guys have any ideas? And for that matter, are any of you gonna be wearing a costume which includes a kilt?

Note: This thread is about costume ideas which use a kilt, not whether or not the kilt should be worn as a costume or part of a costume. That topic is available here: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=31175

    *puts on flame retardant suit*

I debated going as a Scottish pimp. Kilt, fedora, flashy shirt, and a pair of blow-up sheep.

Love the idea of Scottish pimp, couldn't stop laughing. This year i am doing the braveheart thing, with blue paint, claymore and kilt. You could always try going as a bagpiper, the kilt would fit in there quite nicely.

why not look like a viking, that'd be cool and along with fur and swords the kilt might fit in.

I'm doing "Braveheart the Hippy" this year. Blue war paint, wig, kilt etc. but instead of a Claymore - a large long stemmed plastic Chrysanthemum..

I'm going as a medieval knight, and I'll wear my MacLaren SWK Standard with it. Absolutely non-historical, but it looks good .

I can think of nothing funnier or more terrible... except for mine. Check out the mask I found.

Now how's THAT for a haloween costume?

My kilt-despising wife wants to dress me up as a Christmas tree with Maple Leaf kilt as the tree "skirt". She thinks the ML looks very Christmasy. Her work email for flaming is soontobe@exwife.com!
