    Hey

Seriously, it took some balls to start wearing a kilt in the first place. Why do you care what snickering little idiots say?
The important bit of advice I have for you is to decide if your kilt is more important than people's opinions.
If you feel that people's opinions matter more for you, then it's time to admit that you're a coward and go ahead and list your kilts on Ebay and start wearing pants like the rest of the sheep.

If you feel very self concious about your kilt, then people will pick up on that and give you crap for it.

I will share my experiences in hopes that they will demonstrate my point:

I live in a fairly rough neighborhood which consists of people with roots in many different ethnic backgrounds. Unfortunately there also exists a very prevalent criminal culture consisting of Prostitutes, Felons and Meth addicts.

While most of the people in my neighborhood with roots overseas choose not to don the garb of their native country, There are a few who do and I personally would encourage their decision in doing so.

I feel quite comfortable wearing my kilt out in the neighborhood despite what some of my neighbors have said such as: "You're cruising for a bruising if ya wear that around here!"

I have caught some flak a few times from random idiots around here while kilted, and I admittedly dealt with most of them rather harshly, but most of my initially negative encounters resulted in a positive conclusion.

My usual response to a group of young "gangbanger" types who flick me crap over my kilt is that I stand my ground,
I tell them if they have problem with my kilt that they're welcome to come and try to take it from me and then I throw whatever beverage I have in my hand at them.

For whatever reason, they are really nice to me after that.....go figure

Show everyone that you're proud of your kilt and that you will throw down with anyone who has a problem with it and at the very least they won't look at you, at the very most you will gain their respect and admiration as a friend.

Wear your kilt proudly, but carry a big stick
