"Ferry 'cross the Mersey" I love that song!
You just flashed me back to the 60's. Thanks.

Great pictures Alex as always!
I was interested in the tram - Mum and I went to the Wirral a couple of months ago and ended up in New Brighton but we basically followed signs through Birkenhead and didn't see it.
Thanks for the car pic!

The tramway runs for about a mile or two from the ferry terminal to the transport museum. Normally it is operated by trams which were built by Hong Kong Tramways in heritage style but are actually only about fifteen years old. Because it was a special vintage transport day they had four historic trams running. I've created a new album set about the Birkenhead Tramway on my website with pics of all the trams which were running while we were there.

Excellent pics, Alex. Like David, I have never been to Liverpool nor, I regret, to anywhere very close to it! There are so many parts of these islands I've not yet seen - I really must do something about it, and soon!!!

Thanks for the pictures, Alex. Both here and on your Flickr pages. The double decker trams are certainly unusual. How do they prevent passengers from electrocuting themselves on the one with the open top?
San Franciscans have the opportunity to ride trolleys daily. The favorite is from Blackpool and is brought out on sunny days. Its blaring air whistle gets everyone's attention!

The overhead line is sufficiently high that there is no risk of arcing electricity.
Thanks for the link about the Blackpool boat tram, WalkerK. I remember riding on the boat trams in Blackpool when I was younger, but nowadays when I visit Blackpool all the trams which I see are enclosed single or double deckers.

As always Alex, thanks for sharing the pictures. Unfortunately, it is probably as close as I'll get to visiting those places.
