			Strutting a bit today

After my wife saw my new Kidder Black Watch, which I think is beautifully made, she decided that she wasn't going to stand beside me at Stone Mountain in civies. After finding some nice wool in the black Watch tartan I made her a long skirt to match my kilt. Going without a pattern, it was simple to build a floor length skirt that has a matching draw string that is hidden in a channel at the waist of the same material. This way she can adjust the gathers to her own liking while also being able to adjust it as we both begin the long trek toward losing some weight.
Trouble is, now she wants an outer skirt of a solid complimentery color as well as a vest or bodice to match and a ladies traditional blouse.. all due by this weekend.

Meanwhile to finish my first kilt project with some belt loops while getting my little mensplace store off the ground. Selling my first two kilts this week was something of a thrill! Had looked toward a booth at Stone Moutain, but too late for this year. NEXT YEAR for sure.

Loving it all, and with Barbara's new book in hand I'm ready to tackle a SERIOUS project! Trouble with all of this was the scary realization just how much the good ales have landed on the gut and posterior when measuring! NOW I know why the higher waist looks SO much better...

There are many spellings! Like the belted plaid, it can be worn with or without drawstrings, belt loops, or sewn pleats. Usually seen with a chemise, a skirt, and possibly a bodice.
