Public College + Kilt + Mexico = Bad Idea

So today i went kilted for the first time to my college, and it sucked turns out i cant go kilted to school or they wont let me in next time.

By the way i was wearing the kilt in my avatar a black polo, combat boots and the mexsporran, all in all no more kilts in school.

I am sorry to here that. A public college too. You would think colleges could care less what people wear as long as they have clothes on. Most of the colleges here, people dress like cr*p.

That's a bummer, McJore. There are a lot of high schools in the US that have the same narrow view. I've not heard of any colleges, though.

Did they give you a reason why they would not allow it? Is there a specific dress code published that they used? If you really feel strongly about it, you would have to know those things in order to challenge the college.

Also, if it was one person who made the call, you might be able to appeal the matter, using the college appeal mechanism, whatever that might be.

However, I think we would all understand if you decide to not push it.

That's surprising. I wear mine in my community college without a problem. In fact, I think it seems to be more embraced. I'm sure if you wanted to, you could push the issue, and win. The media still has it's uses.

That does suck to hear. What also really sucks is the lack of any type of action possibilities being as this is in Mexico where they don't follow the same ideals... At least you can wear it everywhere else.

At least you had the stones to try. Let's face it, there's probably not a lot of kilts in Mexico or understanding of the Scottish culture. Stand tall Jore.

What is their policy on students' wearing native American/Indian dress on campus?

Good for you for trying it, at least they can't tell you what to wear when you are away from the school.
