    Way to go Gmail

For those who may not have heard...

    Gmail is now supporting IMAP!!!

It's not available on all accounts yet but it will be shortly. if you don't see it you can try logging out and then back in. Then check settings and click on the POP tab.

    Woohoo!

Well, I was stoked, but obviously not everyone speaks our brand of Aramaic! Let's try it this way:

Gmail is now supporting IMAP. Now I can read my Gmail mailbox with my mail client of choice, rather than be forced to use their admittedly-quite-nifty Web interface.

It's a nifty Web interface, but that can't obscure the sad fact that it's a Web interface, after all. Web interfaces are used when you can't find something more deviously obscure, blindingly efficient, and generally geeky with which to read your mail. Something like the command-line version of PINE, for example.

For those who truly aspire to geekdom, PINE is a fine example of a species of recursive acronym. It stands for "PINE is not ELM." Aren't you glad you know that?

Um. Should I keep it a secret that I've been using Evolution with GMail since I got my account almost 3 years ago? IMAP may be new but they've done POP since the beginning.
OR, is there something special about IMAP that I'm missing?

BTW. New here. I'll make an introduction when I think of something to say.

That's certainly not always necessary 'round these parts (thinking of something to say). Just blather on like the rest of us.
