IMHO and yes I have been told what that is worth a number of times.

    1) It's your head wear what you want.
    2) Your girl friend gave it to you - If you refuse to wear it with a kilt what will she think about kilts?
    3) It's your head wear what you want.

You could be a trend setter. Personally I'm not sure that a baseball cap goes with a kilt but how many wear a ball cap with their kilt?

IMHO the only thing a baseball cap goes with is a baseball uniform. I'll never understand why a one-size-fits-some (thanks to a plastic adjuster) billboard became so popular. I'd rather see the bowler with a kilt, or anything else for that matter. Except of course with a baseball uniform

Now here's one where I disagree. I have two ball caps I wear with my kilts, mostly to games in the summer. One is from the Halifax Citadel in NS and has the badge of the old 78th (Seaforth) Highlanders; the other is from the Iowa Scottish Pipes & Drums that I wear with my Iowa kilt:

The photo was taken on my family's farm in Wright Co. Iowa. It just seemed very appropriate to wear the logo of the Iowa Scottish, who have a black outline of the state with a blue saltire.

    Regards,

Why, every American knows that a ball cap goes with everything. You don't even have to coordinate colors.

I'll be wearing my bowler tonight. I'm going to be an old west gambler/gunfighter.

I'll bet there's a way to make the bowler work with a black UK or Amerikilt and a black kilt jacket -- the idea being to recreate the suit, but with a kilt instead of trousers. In fact, after googling some pics of guys in bowlers, it would probably work with a tartan kilt. The jacket and shirt would have to be right and tartan would have to be a subdued color.

    Could work.

    Say it ain't so!!!

We're not saying that an article of clothing that goes with pants doesn't also go with kilts????

While I still don't think it really works you might be on to something. Rather than a UK or AK though, maybe it would look OK with one of Hamish's pinstripe kilt suits?

When he gets better maybe we can get him to model one

He required a sturdy hat for his Head keeper and some twenty staff to wear that would be hardwearing, easily identifiable and comfortable. It was intended as a riding hat - providing hard hat protection as they rode through his protectorate looking out for poachers. It was only later that the hat found its way into the city being adopted first by street merchants and finally finding its way onto the heads of bankers in pin-striped suits.
The gamekeepers at Holkham Hall still, to this day, proudly wear their bowlers.
