We have few friends in the are but thank God the worst they have had to deal with was the smell of the smoke.
May God protect all those affected.

A couple of my friends were evacuated from Cal State San Marcos and from Point Loma; otherwise, the only problem I've encountered was that the ash and smoke in the air affected the quality of our singing at rehersal.

My mom lives in Orange County and is fine, but we have some eldery cousins that live near Oceanside that are staying with my mom for a while until the fire and smoke are done.

My little brother is a police officer over there and has been working his tail end off. He lives in Oceanside near Camp Pendleton and the family has been ready to evacuate. His sons are in high school so they're a big help. Early on he sent me pics of the fire from his back yard. Still about five miles away. From the fire maps seems like its not a threat to their home anymore.
I was concerned since he lives at the top of a ridge of brush.
Other friends are in a motel, unsure of the fate of their home in Ramona.
I spent months clearing a fire break for my parent's old home above the airport in Ramona back in the 1970s. Hope the folks that bought it kept it cleared.

Just found this thread. Thanks for all the kind thoughts!
CNN International left a lot to be wanted. BUT – Thanks to the Great Architect of the Universe, we had cell phones. I can’t wait for the bill to come in. Many international calls, and long (at times) conversations.
I’m the secretary of Fallbrook Masonic Lodge, and the entire town of Fallbrook was evacuated. And my house was sitting there empty and could well have been used!
Fires rolled through parts of Camp Pendleton, in some cases let to burn. The closest the fires came to my place was about 5 miles. Visible by the neighbors, but not really close.
Here, it’s still smokey, but much less so each day. The news says that they hope to have all San Diego fires surrounded by a week from now.
My Lodge has been spending a lot of time helping out with the people who did get burned out, but most of that was done by the time I got back, and all I have been able to do was help load a few trucks of supplies.
At one time the local news even asked that the donations stop, because they had enough stuff. Aren’t people great.
The main difference with this emergency and some others was that when the word came to evacuate, that’s exactly what people did!
Again, thanks for the concern. We’re OK!
