I think you're right on the mark. Some of my friends seem embarassed when I wear my kilt. I suppose a person who is not comfortable in his own skin would feel as though my wearing the kilt is drawing attention to all of us. I can't and won't let that bother me, as I see it as their problem, not mine. I tend to follow up nervous comments from friends with, "It takes a man to wear a kilt".
