Well, when I sat down to design this, I just took a look at the web site and the general colors used on the forum were a dark blue, a light blue, grey and white. So those were my main colors. You are correct, a web site can be designed in any color, but this one uses those colors. Why? You'd have to ask Hank. But I suspect the general blue/white theme is to play on the colors of the St. Andrew's cross, Scotland's national flag.

The yellow is added because I thought a bit more of a bright color was needed for contrast, and so I took the yellow from the many emoticons used in the posts, as a nod towards this being an "internet" tartan.

And just to clarify, when Steve said he selected the colors, I assume what he meant is that Gordon Kirkbright had him "ok" the colors before production, as Steve was the one who put the cloth order in. Gordon also sent me a photo of a color preview so I could give them final approval, as the tartan designer.

Gordon was using a darker blue than I originally used in the design, and used a two-tone yellow for effect. He just wanted to make sure that was ok with me. I didn't think it represented too great a change from my design, so I had no problem with it.
