Alan,
I plan to make a casual knife pleat with the 3 meters I have, as soon as I track down the serger that I believe I purchased lo these many years ago. I believe that should handle the blind hemming, it will be my experiment.

Run no. 1 was woven in '05 and was for 31.5 meters of 14 oz.
Run no. 2 was woven in '06 and was for 80.5 meters of 14 oz.
Run no. 3 was woven in '07 twice and was for 90.5 meters of 16 oz. each time.
That's a total of 293 meters of fabric out there.

I've got an 8/9 yard knife pleat to the sett on order from Barb Tewksbury, that'll hopefully be here soon, so that's #43. And I ordered another 9 yard length (or more accurately, I ordered 9 meters of double-width and Barb T has only used a single width half of it). I have plans for #44, but at present they're on hold until the other side of Christmas.
Best regards

WHOAH......293 meters is *very* roughly 300 yards, double width. That's 600 yards of single width. If half of the kilts made are 4-yards and half are 8 yarders (gross over-simplification but this is just rough, here) then that means there's enough for 200 X-Marks kilts.
TWO HUNDRED X-MARKS Tartan Kilts.

Not to be anal but that's 317.5 yards double or 635 yards single. Very much impressive. Perhaps it's time for me to really join the X Marks clan. It would be fitting as I feel I'm that relative that no-one dares mention...

I have the material, or I should say Steve at FK has it for me (I hope) and I should be sending him my measurements in the near future.

Mine was from the first run and Ron is right, it was tailored into a superb 8 yarder by Geoffrey (Tailor) in Edinburgh:
