I got my first kilt today!PICS!
I finally got to the post office to get my package from SportKilt. I got a Commando in digital camo, I also got a womens kilt skirt for my wife in the Nova Scotia tartan.
Keep in mind that I did not iron it yet, straight from the box to my hips.
My first time ever in a kilt :

As you can see the Sportkilt badge is much smaller on this model. I'm also going to have to get a wider belt, the belt loops are HUGE. Also, am I wearing it properly? Should I hike it up or down at all? I will be wearing it out for the first time this Saturday to our yearly Celtic Bash (my favourite party of the year) I'm thinking I'm going to wear a black T-Shirt and either sandals or I have to go buy some boots.
My wife's new "skirt"

Congratulations on the new kilt, it looks good where it is, you could hike it up a bit if you wanted to but it's fine where it is.

Looks good! My one piece of advice, which was given to me when I donned my first UK, is that while many of us are used to wearing our T-shirts untucked with jeans, with a kilt it looks much better to tuck your shirt in.
Best regards,
Jake

Very nice, both kilt and leg tattoo! I would say go with the boots with heavy socks scrunched down, cool kilt casual.

Looks great on you! Welcome to the kilted world...
I have one of those Commandos and they are comfortable and handy. Love the pockets. I wear mine a little higher than you do here 'cause it helps the aprons hang evenly. Actually, I sewed an extra attachment point a couple of inches down to help keep the right side of my apron from hanging too low. This may not be as much of an issue with a camo kilt as you don't "see" the edges as well as on a colid color like I have. So I guess camo does work!

PS I have found that a 2-inch wide black nylon belt with a side-release buckle (basically a duty belt) works well with the Commando, it does have a wide waistband and loops.
