Belt etiquette?

Well, I have a Sportkilt. Now, I now it's not "traditional", but it is more casual and all I could afford, but is wearing a belt necesary for those? I'm trying to get some things straightened out so I don't look like a fool or anything.

I think even with a Sportkilt a belt and sporran look proper. the general rule of thumb regarding sporrans is if the kilt has pockets - no sporran, otherwise sporran.

No - The general rule of thumb is that if it doesn't have a belt and sporran, it's a skirt!

My son wore his (really ours), Freedom camo kilt in Scotland this summer mostly in the Edinburgh and Glasgow areas and he said that he was rediculed for wearing a "beach kilt." Maybe the pockets put the natives off, but once you wear one of Steve's artistic/engineering marvels you will be a convert.

It is personal choice but I don't know many here who would wear one
