If you haven't sewn the Steeking yet you could simply reverse the inside of the pleats and voila, a Military Box Pleated X Marks Kilt. A first if I'm not mistaken.
Way2fractious is the master of that style of pleating but I don't think he has done an X Marks Tartan one, yet.

I turned the twill that way on purpose to make it easier to hide the stitches along the pleat edges.

Yep. It's much easier to slide into the car, especially with the heavier fabric. That's a sharp-looking kilt!

Since my wife has pretty much convinced me that I couldn't get Skippy* to wear a kilt, I'm hoping that there'll be at least enough of my fabric left to knock up a wee doggie coat for him...he's a little guy and gets cold fast.

I've been away for Thanksgiving. Thought I'd renew this thread.

Excellent-now I have an excuse for making my first "real" (read this as traditional, hand sewn) kilt left handed. I'll just reverse the pleats and tell Panache I did it so he can slide into the convertible without messing up his pleats!

He's currently working on one. We'll post pics when available.

There have been some calls for photos haven't there? I'll see if I can dig up some of my son's kilt and my own "Cheerleader". Actually, I'll just post links to the creation threads in a few moments (gotta go eat dinner!).
Be well,

Star,
We've still yet to see your cheerleader kilt dressed up. I know it was constructed almost in fun, but I'm guess with the right accessories you can make it pretty close to formal.

My x-marks tartan kilt is going to be a 4-yard box pleat, which the Wizard of BC will build for me. Still trying to source sufficient x-marks tartan; might need to wait till the 2008 run.

Looks like 52 and counting, although a lot of the ones between 47 and 52 are "potential" kilts still in the....hmm..."fabric stage"
