Well, it seems some things have changed since I enlisted (1998.) However, the USAF and the Coast Guard now hold the same minimum AFQT entrance scores (36), being the highest minimums. When I joined, the USAF AFQT minimum was a 41 with Army and Navy being a 31 and the Marines being a 26 (I talked extensively w/ the Marine Recruiter before I finally decided on the USAF.) I see the stuff about the waivers, but you've also got to look at that percentage. Heck, just about anything can be waivered. (Ex. I heard a tale about a Maori guy getting a waiver for his facial tattoos in the Army some years ago.)

I'm pretty sure that the scores have always flexed based on recruitment needs. I'm sure my memory is flawed, but I thought that when I enlisted ('87) the minimum score for ASVAB minimum was 50 for the Air Force and 32 for the other services.
