Laphroaig. I haven't gotten around to the Lagavulin, yet, but you can be sure I will.
As for Irish whiskey, I haven't yet found one that doesn't taste like soggy cardboard. No flavour to them.

If I'm buying my own, I buy Laphroaig. I tried Balvenie 12 yr double wood. It was ok, but not as good as Laphroaig.

Which, Glenfiddich did you try? The 12yr? I'm not overly fond of that one either. The 15yr is better, and the 18 and 21yr are awesome (well I really like them).

Having tried Laphroaig once, it doesn't compare to Lagavulin (in my very humble and amateurish opinion!).
You may never go back.

Oban
Laphroaig 15
Ardbeg
Glenfiddich 15 Solera (highly underrated in my opinion)
Longmorn 15 (a hidden treasure try it as soon as possible)
Whisky like any other drink all depends on what suits ones palate, some can't handle the real peaty malts while others don't care for the Speysides. It all depends on the drinker.

I really like Laphroaig but I love Laphroaig Quarter Cask. I discovered it this past summer at A Celebration Of Celts festival. I ordered it through my local wine and spirits shop and the owner liked it so much he now stocks it full time.

Very true. I've been trying as many different types as I can and so far, I pretty much like them all!
