"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon
Several years ago I went kilted (formal) to a Military Ball along with my Regimental Commander Colonel David Patton, nephew of General George S. Patton, he was in his formal Clan Munro tartan. A lady asked him what he was wearing under his kilt and without missing a beat he looked her in the eye and said
"I'm a man of few words,, give me your hand".
Classic!
Military Balls are a great place to wear the plaid and have fun in a kilt. I have never been treated disrespectfully at a military ball while in a kilt. Seems it's a pretty open minded group of people. Anyone who has the opportunity to go to one, I encourage that you do so, you'll enjoy every minute of it.
