    Black Friday

So, I went out with the women-folk to do the post-Thanksgiving shopping thing, which meant an early morning stop at Jo-Ann fabrics. Wool suitings were 50% off, so I was looking pretty heavily. They had one bolt of Royal Stewart (or at least a close copy), but it had less than 1.5 yards on it. However, I did find this:

So, with 5 yards, and 58" width to play with, I should be churning out my first acrylic wool box-pleat over Christmas break, as well as getting my camouflage kilt finished.

I'm going to pleat this to the red stripe, simply so more red shows up (because I need to find something to wear my fire-engine red hose with). I'll get a project post up for both kilts (and any others) up once I get them done.

    DIY JONES!!!

No. I've taken to referring to it as "new kilt plaid" until I decide on a more proper name.

BTW, figured it out, 5 yards cost me $31 total. Gotta' love it.

Does your flic show the colors pretty true? Greys, black, red and white?

Too bad there isn't a good way yet to reverse engineer a kilt pattern...... someday?

No, the "white" stripe is actually a light gray. But all other colors are true.

You can go to the Scottish Tartan Authority and using the Tartan Ferret

    http://www.tartansauthority.com/Web/...rchintroc2.asp

and enter the color order to search for a tartan.

What I meant was, say you have an unknown piece of tartan, and you want to find out what it is.

But I have had less than satisfactory results using it. Maybe I just haven’t figured out the way to do it yet?
