Well Trump could certainly lodge an appeal in which case there will need to be a Public Inquiry and since he has got the money he might just decide to do this. Though maybe now he will take the hint that many people in Scotland simply do not want him coming here to ruin a beautiful area of the country. If people want to play golf in a fine scenic setting in Scotand they are weclome to come and play the plenty of good golf courses we have already, along the Ayrshire coast around Troon and Prestwick there are six or seven courses, we have Carnoustie, St. Andrews, etc. and for those who can afford it the course beside Loch Lomond and the one at Gleneagles.

I hope the farmer keeps his land, but it sounds like the Government is more of the bad guy rather than Trump if the land gets stolen away from the farmer.
It's not just one farmer's land. There are quite a few of them and it is land they have held for generations.
On top of that, a lot of the places where he wants to develop are areas of outstanding natural beauty AND a sanctuary for many rare animals.
The RSPB are currently trying to get it classified to stop further development on it.

Amazingly, Trump's just spoken on BBC Scottish News and said there the people are rioting in Scotland against the decision to refuse his golf course and that he has overwhelming support. What a load of rubbish. He does have some support among the Aberdeen business community but I think he will find the vast majority of Scots don't want him coming here disfiguring our countryside. I'd never heard of this guy Trump until this golf course controversy started. Is he really such a complete idiot that he just can't accept that his development is not wanted?

Yes... He is an egotistical self absorbed moron who finds great joy in reducing all of life's subtleties into a quest for more cash.

An urgent special meeting of Aberdeenshire Council has been announced in the wake of the refusal for Donald Trump's £1bn golf plans.
Council leader Anne Robertson said the meeting was being called in light of the "overwhelming and unprecedented public response and dismay expressed".

Latest news on BBC Scotland tonight is that Trump's application has been "called in" by the Scottish Government as an issue of national importance. This is a procedure whereby the decision taking process is taken out of the hands of the local council and decided by the Scottish Government. There will be a public inquiry, chaired by a Reporter, who will thereafter make a recommendation to the Scottish Government. His recommendation will not bind their final decision.
