Oh, they're certainly not for everyone, and if you want to visit a site more than an hour from the port, it is a real hassle, and may not be feasible. Also, if you just want to visit one area, they're not real practical.

The basic cabins are certainly not big, but I never spend a lot of time there anyway. Cabins are for sleeping/napping and changing clothes.

I been on six cruises and have another planned, but I've also taken land vacations. It all depends on what I'm going to see. I tend to pick trips based on the sites seen and not the conveyance.

I will have to say that I went to an all-inclusive on Jamaica and it was great. The biggest effort I had to make was putting on long pants for dinner (pre-kilt days).
Yeah, the cabin was small. But, I would hardly be able to tell a horror story from it. It accommodated the two of us just fine. I just wasn't so thrilled with the overall experience. Also, the quality of people on the cruise GREATLY reflected the economy cost. There were some real winners wondering around... lemme tell ya. lol

I did enjoy the dining nights... so not all was lost.
