I did get a kilt a few years back that was certainly not what was advertised.
I was about 18 and new to ebay.
I ordered a kilt at 100 Pounds that was advertised as an 8 yard, wool, professionally made and tailored kilt.
I didn't look at the feedback.

What I got was a 4-5 yard, very light nylon kilt. Yes, NYLON.
Pleated to no particular pattern, in the wrong tartan, completely the wrong measurements and more flammable than you can imagine.

I never did get my money back for that.

For myself, the worst kilt I own is my black Amerikilt. It's not that it's made badly- quite the contrary in fact- I just don't like the style. It's too skirtlike. However, I did wear it to work today. It looks really good with an off white button down shirt, SWK Nightstalker tartan flashes and a tie.

My worst is a Tan Amerikilt, The pleats curl like crazy and it looks like a Catholic Schoolgirls skirt gone awry. It always looks beat up somehow.
My Black Amerikilt is great, no problem with it. Just the Tan one. I've worn the Black one more than the Tan, yet the Tan always looks like I've slept in it.

My old black Survival Utilikilt. Came off the scratch 'n dent rack. Had a repair in the outer apron when I got it. The fabric kept failing. Finally decided to wear it for dirty jobs. A couple months ago, noticed that the inner apron was separating from the rest of the kilt. At that time, I stripped the cargo pockets off, and chucked the rest.

I suppose I should chime in myself.

My worst kilt is my SWK thrifty. Not a bad kilt, just not quite as nice as my sport kilt. And since I only have the 2 at the moment...

But what of us who only own kilts we have made ourselves?

Edit to add: I'm not counting my Irish National SWK as owning a kilt made by someone else as I disassembled it and am using the fabric to make a kilt tailored to me. So I guess I really don't own an SWK...

Well, technically I said not to include homemade failures, so I didn't necessarily rule out all homemade kilts [/lawyer]

If all you you have is homemade stuff, feel free to tell us what you've made that just didn't work. The main reasons for the no homemade kilts idea were that it is better if we talk about kilts which we could all potentially buy/have bought, and because it is not fair to compare homemade with commercially available, and because it would be too easy to say that a kilt you screwed up was the worst, rather than a completed product which went according to plan.

But I'd rather not stifle discussion, and (as much as I hate to admit it) I have no authority anyway, so speak up.

    Thumbs down King "Kilt"

My first was a product of "King Kilts".
    Black flimsy cotton,
    wide pleats,
    no taper,
handsewn yes, but how...wide stitches, very loose. Even after I added a stabiliser it was no good.

I never wore it in the outside world, even my first homemade was better.

Personally I would have been ashamed to sell such a thing and have the nerve to call it a kilt!

    It ended in the trashcan...

I can't say I've ever had a bad kilt. Some are of course better than others, but there's nothing wrong with any of them.

Maybe it's because I'm such a fine specimen of manhood that they just all look great on me.
