Great kilt! And in a tartan that really means something to you.
Unfortunately I had the MacPizzahut feeling when I saw it at first as well. While I understand the sandals for Arizona this might be a kilt that is better matched with some traditional accessories including hose etc. I think hose and flashes in the right colour paired a matching shirt (to the hose not the kilt) would de-emphasise the initial "tablecloth" look of the kilt.
Ether that, or pass by the local Pizza Hut and see if they will throw some cash your way to walk around in a Pizza Hut t-shirt
