    Question Tartan ID?

Just saw this new icon on a website that sells Eastern Orthodox icons. Does anyone recognise the tartan covering the altar table in the centre?

There's a description of the icon here.

    Hello Coemgen.

I cannot tell much about the tartan on the icon. Suggest you email the creator whose email link is at the bottom of the page that describes the icon. I bet he would be glad to tell you.

Let us know the answer, please.

It is extremely small in the picture on line, but it appears to be something similar to the red Ramsay. Other possibilities might be MacLeod of Raasay, Ettrick, Campbell red, etc.... of course, the iconographer could have just made up a tartan design to give the icon a more Scottish feel. (I really doubt any historical church in Scotland every used tartan as an altar cloth).

    Aye,

    Hello Coemgen.

Thank you for posting the link to the icon of Scottish saints. I liked it so much that I ordered two icons from them, they arrived today. Very nicely done. Have you ever discover what the tartan is in the icon???

    where's Margaret?

It is indeed an interesting and nicely done icon. However, one of the more important Scots saints is missing, St Margaret.

Nope, I haven't gotten one yet. Perhaps you could take a close-up picture and post it here?

Sorry, my computer died, I'm at the library checking mail (with 1,500 xmarks posts). Don't know how long it will take to get back to normal.
