As opposed to drinking with my mouth closed, where the REAL spillage would occur (Spilly Talker!), and having to use a straw to suck my stout through my nose?

I tend to think black hose are more formal myself and like them a lot.

Do a search on eBay for 'Euro Tie' and they should come up.

How long did it take to get your kilt from B-S? I took advantage of their sale and ordered one in British Columbia around Thankgiving. Just wondering if it will be here in time for the holidays. The colors look great. Looking at your pictures and reading your glowing review of the kilt again make the anticipation for its arrival even that much greater.

I came home from work to find a wonderful suprise waiting for me. The box from Burnetts & Struth could only be one thing, my British Columbia casual kilt ordered on Thanksgiving Day. I have to echo Casper's comments. The kilt is awesome. Quality work and quick turnaround, a 16 oz. wool kilt in a splendid looking tartan, I am in awe for the value received. As someone mentioned in a previous thread, I can't believe I'm this excited about paying $199 for a kilt, but it is well worth it.

Casper, is this what you meant by Euro tie?

    Not quite....

Mine tightens by sliding. The band is that same size, but one piece all the way around. It then goes back through the pre-tied and stiched in place knot, and tightens by pulling on it where it comes out behind the main part of the tie, just like a regular self-tied one.

Difference being that its a thinner, seamless, uniform band than a standard tie, but also doesn't have any visible clasps or hardware like your pictured tie.

I got mine from this friendly gentleman:

Well, Colin, if you make it up to the Spike for their Burns' Night (I was there for their 4pm Scottish New Year's) then ya might be able to snag a closer look!

    PRE-TIED NECK TIES

Are these worn by guys that are so lazy they marry pregnant women? C'mon, how much effort does it take to tie a tie???

And tell me you're not going to wear it with a PC... I mean, what's next? Clown shoes?

I was at the Spike for Scottish New Year at 4pm as well. I was only there for a quick drink (and it jeans at the time)and than off to another party. I am likely doing a joint Burns night/ Australia Day party on the 25th with some friends.

As for ties, I am not looking for one. I got this one a few years back when I bought a used vest from Balck and Lee formal wear (on Westwood). It's a standard tuxedo tie and if Dee wanted it, it's all his. It looks great with a tux shirt.
