Well, the 3 kilts came in early this week. Happy, happy, joy, joy!

The Amerikilt is built... well... "oddly"... But it will suffice for lounging around or working on a hot day. The pleats are only sewn down on the outer, visible edges. I think I'll try sewing down the inner pleat to see if it will make it hang better.

The SWK standard kilts, though, are just great. Excellent value buying these, for sure! And Stillwater sent me a couple kilt hangers gratis. Nice touch to impress a new customer. The Nightstalker leather sporran is such a great, practical addition. I'm glad they introduced these.

I'll have to get a couple pics as I'll certainly wear them at upcoming Xmas parties and on Christmas day. My mother should be quite happy to see the Black Stewart on me. I don't care how cold it gets over the next couple of weeks... these puppies will see some use!

    Chris...
This thread might be of interest to you and I believe this subject also came up before regarding Utilikilts. Without reading through the search results any further, I remember sewing down the inside pleats on Amerikilts also came up in some other threads.

Thanks for the link. That was an interesting thread and I wish it had truly been resolved one way or the other.

I hope Riverkilt sees this and can chime in with any results he found. He never says if he actually "de-stitched" one of his UK's or tried stitching up his AK.

    Thumbs up SWKs & Amerikilts

    Chrisss,
I just got my two SWKs, both fit great. On my AK, after several washings, and pressings, it stopped fitting "oddly". I thought it was just my body shape or lack thereof that made the reverse pleat pucker. I only inside stitched down about 4 inches from the waist on the first and the reverse pleats, and everything has been fine.
Happily kilted in Boston. Love the new SWKs.
