All great replies (and retorts)! I, too, often tell people I have several metres of woollen blanket wrapped around, so no I'm not cold. Since the wind doesn't emit from the ground I don't have much of a problem with that either.

It's a bit cold and windy in seattle today. Running around doing errands. Got two "isn't that colds" and one "aren't you worried about everyone seeing your business?".

Here's an important thing I've learned about the USA kilts. A sporran and tightenting up the bottom buckle a notch or two will keep the wind from blowing your kilt up.

Funny, how people never think to ask their mothers, sisters, wives that question. At that moment, the questioners forget the skirt part.

Well, we should be cold, shouldn’t we? Our wives would be cold in skirts if they had not supplied with pantyhose. And yet they might often feel cold and the same to men in pants.
And here we are seen with unprotected knees and the same could other parts be, they might think.
When temperatures are down a man in a kilt must to most people be cold and therefore their question is pretty relevant, so to say.

My answer will be
- No, not at all. Had I been wearing pants today, I certainly had been cold, too. I can’t explain why, but it is a well known fact among kilt wearers that they are very seldom cold when in a kilt.

Or the short version:
- O yes, my hands feel rather cold today.

Earlier, when I was wearing shorts, sometimes at low temperatures I had the same question, by the way.

We had about 2.5 inches of snow this morning, and I spent about an hour and a half shoveling my drive through a bit of a breeze and sticky, wet, falling snow in a tank and a couple of layers up top. Couldn't have been more comfortable, despite coming in finally a bit on the damp side. The kilt is now my preferred snow-shoveling gear - keeps me warm and I have way more mobility than if I had on jeans and long-johns.

I was in a big box hardware store today. Aren't you cold in that kilt? TWICE. No you would be quite suprised how warm it is.
In the grocery store.ONCE. Aren't you cold? Same answer.

...Nope, these socks are warmer than they look!
