Hope things work out. Straps or a belt would probably be easiest to find.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Target has thin, fake leather belts in black, available in several sizes, for about $12 each. It would be worth taking a look to see if you can find something workable.
