Wore my kilt out and about Asheville today. I was kinda surprised by how many people came up to me and asked me about it.

Fantastic! One more person to help us annoy that bitter woman who runs the kilt shop there! Welcome to the rabble from Cincinnati.

from just outside the Beltway in Maryland! My grandparents (both dead now) retired to Hendersonville many years ago, then moved to Asheville, so I got to know it a tiny bit when I visited them while I was in college and after. Seeing this post at Christmastime makes me think of the time my granddad to me to see the gingerbread house competition entrants at the Grove Park Inn (at least I think that was the name of the place). Plus, my favorite t-shirt to wear with a kilt is from the Highland Brewing Company: I love being "Just a wee bit different," as the shirt says, and it almost goes without saying that I love beer.
