No, "Mirror, Mirror" is the episode where a transporter accident makes the landing party trade places with their counter-parts from a savage alternate universe (afterwards referred to as the 'mirror universe,' a place visited in one episode of TOS, two of Enterprise, and five of DS9).
The episode with the Khoms and Yangs was "The Omega Glory," and the episodes with the grups was "Miri," after the name of the young lady in it.

Really? Because it was the '60s, and she was a black woman, and the writers never thought about the fact that she ranked Chekov and Sulu.
In-story? Because she was a staff officer, not a line officer, which is a significant difference in Naval service.

I always figured it was because she was so busy answering the phones.

I love the original Star Trek series. The one I best remember was the one where they travel to a planet and find that a Federation observer interfered with the progress of a people and ended up creating a late 1930s Germany-like culture. Kirk ended up wearing a black Gestapo officer's uniforms and Spock tried to hide his ears under a helmet. But in the end, each episode was like a morality tale.

That would be "Patterns of Force". True, a lot of Trek episodes were morality tales, but that was Rodenberry's intention. There are some that don't really have that element, some are good, some aren't. And then there are the morality episodes like "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield", or, as one person has put it, "You don't suppose this episodes is meant to be some sort of allegory about 20th century Earth?". That one is probably the most heavy handed.
"Patterns of Force" was a well executed. One thing I like is Spock's description of John Gill, which, if I remember correctly, was, "His treatment of Earth history as causes and effects rather than dates and places", or something to that effect. It's funny, because as a student of history I've been taught to not think of history as merely dates and places. But the discipline has gone through many changes in its (dare I say it?) history.

My favorite would have to be "A Piece of the Action." The whole fizbin sequence is priceless. Also Spock, "I would advice ya to keep dialing."

In no particular order:
Piece of the Action: One of my favorite exchanges. (aside for the 'I'd advise youse to keep dialin', Oxmyx')
Krako - "I got rights!"
Scotty - "You got nothin'! Now you mind your place, mister, or you'll... you'll be wearin' concrete galoshes."
Krako - "You mean cement overshoes?"
Scotty - "Uh... aye."

The Trouble with Tribbles: best line.."I beamed them all into the Klingons engine room where they'll be no tribble at all."

As an aside, they're currently running reruns of "Have Gun Will Travel" hereabouts and I've been watching them pretty consistently. Rodenberry was the writer on some of the episodes and it's really obvious which were his....talk about morality plays!

Which reminds me of the TOS episode "Specter of the Gun," in which Kirk and company, which included a couple of actors who had made their fame in westerns, go to Tombstone for the Big Event.
