Last year at St. Patrick's Day celebrations I didn't even need a wallet! More people bought me drinks just because I had worn a kilt. The only trouble the whole night was a visiting group from England that demanded that my kilt was not something the Irish would wear on St. Patrick's Day, I tried my best to explain it was a St. Patrick's Tartan, and yes it was made in Scotland, and no the Irish don't normally wear kilts....etc. etc. I calmly explained to his wife that she must be the luckiest person in the entire pub to have a husband so worried about my kilt.
She bought me and my group another round of drinks.

Wonderful story. It happens to all of us. The authority of a kilt seems to be recognized—or is it the gentleman wearing the kilt exudes authority?

Two summers ago I was taking my daily walk in the park and got invited to a company picnic that was taking place in the pavilion because I was wearing a kilt - I don't even work. Since I walk with a cane, a very attractive young lady escorted me to the long line of tables full of food and loaded a plate for me with whatever I wanted. She did so again for seconds - not that I needed them but everything was so good.

This brings to mind another advantage of the traditional or traditional styled kilt - those adjustable straps D.
