I'm not sure...but my three guesses would be:

1) Lot Numbers
2) Serial Numbers
3) Size (waist, length, hips)

The first number is the height of the wearer's height, in centimeters, the second number is the waist, in centimeters, the third number is the hip, also in centimeters.

You are all wrong!

This is an ancient tally system used to pass on critical data from one kilt wearer to the next kilt wearer.

The three number groups indicate the cumulative number of times that, while wearing that kilt, the wearer was asked the following.

Number group one - What’s under the kilt?
Number group two – Where’s your bagpipes?
Number group three – Aren’t you cold?

182-96-108 is a rather low number and indicates that the kilt in question was not worn very often and should have plenty of wear left. I have one rather old kilt, which has a current register of 6823-2933-733. I should mention that I live in a warm climate.

By use of this number, you are able to gage the amount of wear left in a kilt. Most well made kilts will last until each group of numbers is well into six digits.
