Frugal Corner Experience
This story begins like many on this forum, delays in shipping from Frugal Corner. I myself ordered my 16oz MacPherson Modern on August 23, 2007. I received my PayPal confirmation and though everything was ok. I knew it took four to eight weeks for kilts not in stock so I didn't worry the first month, or the second month.
I emailed Frugal Corner at the beginning of November and received an email from Daleah stating 14-18 kilts had come in from their supplier and that she would check and see if it was among them and asked Mark Bennett to check on the status.
As of November 19th I still had not heard a word from either D or M and so I sent yet another email. I got the reply from mark b on November 23rd stating that the last few packages were held up in customs...and my package was not a part of them and that they were checking with the weavers to see what the problem was. They offered me a refund, but I'm a patient man and understand things happen. I told Mark them I can wait, just to try to keep me updated on the status.
On November 28th from D stating she had some personal issues but hopes that I received my order since some MacPherson Moderns were in but none in my size. She had a size bigger and a size lower then my order if I would prefer those...of course this was for the 13oz not the 16oz I ordered. This day, the 28th, is the only day I've ever had constant communication from Frugal.
December 10th I email, D still says that my order has not come in, though accessories have, though I'm not sure why she tells me this since I didn't order any accessories.
That is officially the last time I have heard from anyone at Frugal Corner. I attempt to email any and all email address I've ever had for Frugal Corner and receive bounce backs. Voicemails, yeah, those haven't been returned either. To put it simply it is without a doubt the worst "shopping" experience of my life.
Now, even if I wanted a refund there is no way to receive one since there apparently no open lines of communication. I hope someone here can suggest something similar as this was supposed to be the kilt for my wedding in April and hopefully they are a little me reliable then Frugal Corner has been to me. Hopefully this post will prompt Frugal Corner to do something as it has in the past, at this point I'm willing even to try Santeria or some ancient Sumerian text to get some answers, or hell maybe even a response.

I have no good answer, but if you need a good kilt for the wedding FAST, then get a Stillwater Standard. It's a great looking kilt, though the tartan choice is limited, and Jerry can turn it around (If he has the size) in jut a couple of days.

Stillwater is definitely the best in delivery speed & service.
I think it's getting to a point of giving up on Frugal Corner as a bad joke. Things improved for a month or so, but now it's back to horrible service, ignoring clents, no response etc. I was just about to order another kilt fro them, but don't think I'll risk it any more, too much of a hassle.

If you're in need of a MacPherson modern kilt for your wedding in April, I would look absolutely no where else than USA Kilts. (Unless of course you want wool, then I would gladly use any of our renowned traditional kiltmakers: Matt, Barb, Kathy Lare, or Rocky at USA Kilts also does a knock out job of machine stitched wool kilts.) But, because you went with Frugal, it seems the price is probably an issue. So, this is why I'd recommend USA Kilts. They have the MacPherson modern AND the MacPherson hunting in PV. The PV is superior to the acrylic the FC kilts are made from. Rocky is a swell guy and knows what a quality kilt is. I think it'd be a great move.

These kinds of stories are all I've heard about these guys... I was thinking about ordering a kilt from them, but I can a USA Kilt for the same price, and USA K has a killer reputation. So if you want something in roughly the same price range as a Frugal Corner custom kilt, you could go for a USA K semi trad. They're not in 16oz material, but you'll have your kilt in the time needed.

Ted, that cracked me up, I needed it.
Bradley, thanks for the advice I will definitely go and look them up. Sadly as much as I would like to buy an authentic kilt for the wedding price is the issue.
Ironically enough I received my Argyle and 5 Button Vest today and as I was putting it on FC called, finally. Now I don't know if it was Ted's chicken, fate, or this post but they did. Apparently they get their kilts from a country "under martial law" and the situation over there has severely hindered their deliveries. I wish I could have the patience of Job, but there's no telling when they would actually get my kilt in.

I hate to hear these stories, because I got a very nice sporran from them very quickly.
I don't understand why they list some of their kilts as "stock" when, in fact, they don't have them in stock. I'm sure it's very hard to do business with companies in Pakistan right now. I would not promise delivery on something that came from there until I was actually looking at it in my own store.

Sounds like Pakistan, or?
I can understand how the situation in the country since Bhutto's death would definitely hinder their operations. However, they seem to have been having difficulties since way before that tragedy, so I'm not sure if it really exonerates them. Here's hoping your situation is resolved soon (and the situation in Pakistan is resolved as well, for whatever is best for its people).
