Welcome John from another John. You will find that you will either not be noticed, or get smiled at. I wear mine all of the time during UK holidays and I find that it attracts people to me. More so in some of the Scottish hotels I've stayed in have been staffed by those from the Eastern block. It's me that's giving it a Scottish identity. I don't mind so much, but I feel that some of the foreign visitors aren't really getting a Scottish experience. It's obvious that our foreign friends are more willing to do the work.

I'd say that, unfortunately, it depends on the Scotsman.
The fact of the matter is that it shouldn't and most of the folk I know would be nothing but welcoming and supportive about it.
I've many many an Englishman with or without Scottish roots who have worn the kilt proudly and did it justice. And just as many Scotsmen who make the kilt look bad.

For what it's worth, you have my blessing, at least.
If anyone gives you any trouble, ask THEM to recite their lineage back to 1810.
