You're a pretty critical fellow, aren't you? I seem to find you p*ssing on a lot of threads. Go outside, breathe some fresh air, take a walk. Lighten up, it's not the end of the world as we all know it. It's an article of clothing.
The guy lazy enough to not tie his own tie isn't nearly as problematic as the one that sees the need to gripe about everything.

As for ties, I am not looking for one. I got this one a few years back when I bought a used vest from Balck and Lee formal wear (on Westwood). It's a standard tuxedo tie and if Dee wanted it, it's all his. It looks great with a tux shirt.
Why thank you Colin. That's very kind but McMurdo presented me both with a sliver and a black one at the SOKS Christmas Kilt Night in Hamilton last month.
And yes, I DO like them. I make a mess trying to tie a regular tie short enough to wear with a kilt.

I BEG YOUR PARDON
Actually, out of my more than 150 postings, only 7 have been openly critical of anything posted on this forum. None of them have descended into name calling or petulant ranting. Because one of those postings (today) was critical of remarks made by you (when you responded to a posting made by James MacMillan) I can not help but wonder if your outburst is personal in nature.
If this is a personal issue with you, then I would suggest it be resolved via private messaging rather than taking up space on the public forum.
If this is not a personal issue, then I would kindly ask you to tone down the rhetoric. I find it neither amusing nor appropriate.

Kilt
I received my Burnett-Struth Macdonnell 16 oz Lochcarron 4-5 yd. kilt before Christmas and I am very delighted with it. It is machine stitched with all pleating and detail done on site in the most excellent manner. I was measured at their store and the kilt fit perfectly. Wore it on Christmas eve and day. My preference is for the 4-5 yd kilt but each too their own needs.
At $200 I doubt if the value could be replicated. There is a limited number of tartans however.
I also have a USA Kilt in the MacDonald casual. I added a right side kilt strap and buckle as a feature and it looks great also.

Being a corporate whore, i've worn suits and ties for most of my working life, and learned to tie the various kinds of knots before I could even drive.
The reasoning for that particular item would be:
- I like wing tip shirts for formalwear
- I don't like bow ties
- Standard (AKA four-in-hand) ties typically have a visible seam somewhere over the length of the tie, which would kill the look
- A silk jabot/cravat/etc (which I actually do own one) have too wide of a neck band to work with a wing-tipped collar
It was worn with an argyll and vest, as I also believe that the PC is vastly over done.
Any other overly opinionated comments?

Spike for Burns night and you are going to wear your BC Kilt? When is that going to be? I am doing the Gung Haggis Fat Choy Dinner in Chinatown on the 27th.
Let me know if you are interested.

I thought the Burns night at the spike was at 7:30 on the 25th.
Swing by for a beer if you are in the neighborhood.
